FOR TOP-QUALITY TRADITIONAL SPANISH FOOD
WELCOME TO COSMI
A stay in Santa Eulalia would be incomplete without a visit to Can Cosmi, the town’s most iconic bar and restaurant.
Located on the corner where the main street, Calle San Jaime, meets Passeig de S’Alamera – or ‘La Rambla’ – Cosmi’s, as it is more simply and affectionately known, is without doubt the most popular place to sit and watch the world go by.
The traditional pleasure of ‘people watching’ whilst dining outside in the sun is still very much a central part of life in the town, and this remains the case at Cosmi’s where live music can also frequently be enjoyed at the same time, even in the winter months.
Prior to 2015 the bar was entirely located downstairs, and provided a wonderful and tasty range of tapas dishes, together with a good selection of main meals of meat, fish, or seafood, all served either ‘al fresco’ to those customers seated outside at the street tables, or indoors on extremely rare occasions of poor weather. However, Can Cosmi has since undergone a complete redesign and restructuring of the premises, allowing the newly created upstairs restaurant to provide one of Santa Eulalia’s finer traditional Spanish dining experiences.
It can be a relief to find somewhere for that late-night drink and it is easy to imagine that Can Cosmi never closes, but in fact it does … usually around 2.00 in the morning, opening again at 5.00 to serve the local customers for whom the working day begins when most of the rest of us are still in bed.
Breakfast can be had at any time of the day, served with quite possibly the best coffee available. Regular customers almost go through a daily ritual of coffee at Cosmi’s before doing much else, and this routine can frequently apply to visitors for whom it becomes something of a habit.
The only problem is that, once sat down it is difficult to find the desire to get up and leave.
